Betfair Exchange make Steve Bruce favourite to be next Premier League manager sacked Despite there still being no confirmed date on when the Premier League season will return, punters still have the opportunity to bet on markets associated with the top division of English football. One of those is, unfortunately for those in charge, related to the sack race and the next manager to lose their job. Hardly to the surprise of many, Steve Bruce is the current favourite to be the next manager to go with the impending Saudi takeover looming over Newcastle United. Coming into this season expectations were particularly low at St. James’ Park after the club were unable to come to terms on a new contract with Rafa Benitez, leaving Bruce to fill the void of the popular Spaniard. However, Bruce has performed just as well, if not better than Benitez in the eyes of many this season, keeping Newcastle in a respectable 13th place before the postponement of the league. Still, it is expected that the Saudis will want to appoint a big name manager once the takeover is completed, with Mauricio Pochettino touted as the favourite, while Benitez is also believed to be in consideration. It certainly would be harsh on Bruce given the solid season Newcastle have enjoyed thus far, though it wouldn’t be a shocking call. Most teams still have nine games to complete before the official end of the 2019/20 Premier League season, while four teams have 10 games still to play. The Premier League have confirmed their ambition to finish the season and are exploring a number of different avenues to do so, with the plan remaining to begin playing once again in June. Some of the possibilities discussed have included playing games from England’s base St. George’s Park and even playing all games in a neutral venue abroad where the spread of Coronavirus hasn’t been as severe as in the United Kingdom. Graham Potter and Roy Hodgson follow Bruce in the manager betting odds, though no manager to be sacked is currently sandwiched between the Newcastle boss and his Brighton and Crystal Palace counterparts, leaving him as the outright favourite to leave. Betfair have some great offers on the next manager betting odds plus loads of upcoming sporting fixtures when the world gets back to normal including the Betfair Grand National 2021.
